Jamie Hayter vs. Emi Sakura
Jamie Hayter's evolution from beloved underdog to dependable champion has been one of the most exciting organic developments in AEW. Emi Sakura was overwhelming with her rough and dirty tactics, using underhanded attacks such as clawing, elbow grinding during rope breaks, and even spanking her defenseless opponent. Despite Hayter's reputation as a powerful asskicker, she was beaten from pillar to post, her chest bruised red from repeated chops. Sakura's barrage intensified with a Tiger Driver, a moonsault and a neck-crushing backdrop, but Hayter stood up each time with unwavering spirit. A brilliant title eliminator in which the champion received the best of the contender and overturned it. ****1/4
