Stardom - Gold Rush (11/19/2022)

1. High Speed Championship: AZM (c) vs. Momoka Hanazono

AZM, steady and sharp as usual, adapted to her opponent's hybrid style well. Hanazono is small but has a bulky physique and rugby background, and brought some power elements to "high speed". Her signature comedy spots were present as well. A great opening match to set the tone of the event. ***3/4

6. Wonder of Stardom Championship: Saya Kamitani (c) vs. KAIRI

After being reduced to tears several times by KAIRI and the incident in Hiroshima, there were concerns about Saya Kamitani's mental state heading into this match, but she used those frustrations as a springboard to give a strong performance. From start to finish, she showed her infinite potential. In fact, I felt that KAIRI, who is small and physically limited but makes the most of it, was the one who had to play catch-up. ****1/4

7. World of Stardom Championship: Syuri (c) vs. Utami Hayashishita

Syuri and Utami are monsters of stamina, endurance and bumping technique, and they are great rivals despite their wide generational gap. While the previous title matches between these two were on an even footing, here Utami always seemed one step ahead, with a pin-point attack on the neck, and Syuri was on the defensive. Syuri had to dig deep and use the depth of her wrestling to win. Utami having matches of this caliber at her age and experience level will never cease to amaze me. ****1/4
