Stardom - Flashing Champions 2023 (5/27/2023)

6. Goddesses of Stardom Championship: MIRAI & Ami Sohrei (c) vs. Natsuko Tora & Momo Watanabe

MIRAI & Ami embodied the essence of an uphill battle, achieving victory by the slimmest of margins. Each breakthrough they made felt like a struggle. On the other hand, Natsuko & Momo formed a formidable duo, exploiting injuries and bending the rules. Natsuko Tora's performance, particularly, stood out as she seemed to embrace the role of a "handyman" striving to extract the fighting spirit from the champion team, who struggle with communicating with the audience. Good match. ***3/4

7. Artist of Stardom Championship: KAIRI, Natsupoi & Saori Anou (c) vs. Giulia, Mai Sakurai & Thekla

Mai Sakurai and Thekla, who many thought were weak points, stepped it up big time, with Giulia serving as the linchpin of the trio. The key encounters between Giulia and KAIRI/Saori Anou were well crafted and satisfying. Giulia and KAIRI shared an especially intense encounter, where each blow carried a tremendous sense of significance. The match featured speedy sequences involving multiple wrestlers, coordinated team work and split-second momentum shifts, as is customary for Artist. Beneath the surface of the action lay deep-rooted conflicts that added depth to the match. Despite the star-studded lineup of REstart, it was DDM who emerged as the more cohesive unit, with each member showing a clear understanding of their role and positioning within the team. ****1/4

8. World of Stardom Championship / Wonder of Stardom Championship: Tam Nakano (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa (c)

Contrary to the general expectation of a safe time-out draw, Tam Nakano once again defied Stardom's conventional wisdom and secured an unexpected victory, much like she did in Yokohama Arena. Tam Nakano's performance showcased impressive generalship as she not only endured everything Mina had to offer but also returned it with even greater force. Meanwhile, Mina, who has undoubtedly developed into a formidable big match performer, continued to show her growth with her classical limb-targeting offense. Not only was it a double title match, but also a match infused with multiple intricate storylines. Among these was the burgeoning rivalry between former stablemates and the compelling narrative of Mina Shirakawa's unyielding ambition clashing with the unforgiving realities of the ring. Despite the hastily arranged nature of the bout, both navigated the challenging circumstances well and the clear-cut outcome heightened the match's impact. ****
